Just Mohabbat is a story of a sensitive young boy, Jay and his wonder days of school and growing up. Jay lives in a hostel in Dehradun away from his parents Maya and Raj and his sister Priya. The story is about Jay and his imaginary friend who he adores. It tells stories of growing up: school, teachers, girls, lectures, friendship, best friends and first love. It also deals with how the decisions made by the parents and the way they behave with their children and in society, impacts the children’s personality and lifestyle. Every child is a little insecure and it is the parent’s responsibility of providing them with love and comfort and a secure environment to grow up in. Just Mohabbat is a story that shows the lighter side of the teenage years and growing up.
In this edgy thriller, Don McKay (Thomas Haden Church, Sideways) flees his hometown after a horrendous tragedy and vows never to return. But 25 years later he comes back to find a dark menace looming over the town. Fernandez sings the aria “Ebben? Ne andrò lontana”, from Act I of Catalani’s opera “La Wally.” The piece is a haunting reverie on the theme of traveling alone and far from home. Catalani died in 1893 of consumption at the age of 39, only a year after the triumphant premiere of “La Wally” at La Scala. This performance plays a prominent role in the 1981 French romantic thriller, “Diva” – and is an excerpt from the DVD. Roger Ebert, film critic for the Chicago Sun Times, rates the movie 5 stars out of 5. This was one of the most frequently “favorited” videos on BestArts. The opera, based on a German novel, has a libretto by the young Luigi Illica, who went on to collaborate on the texts for “La Boheme,” “Tosca” and “Madama Butterfly.” It tells of a wild, headstrong Swiss mountain girl who loves one local huntsman and is loved by another. Eventually she wins her true love, the pair embraces high in the Alps, an avalanche entombs the hero and she leaps after him to her snowy death. Divine Intervention is a comedy about a young, hip preacher who becomes the temporary pastor of a small fundamentalist Baptist church in Los Angeles when the long presiding pastor has to take an indefinite leave of absence after suffering a stroke. The handsome and stylish Reverend Robert Gibbs’ flashy and hip style of preaching is immediately embraced by members of the now growing congregation, but is frowned upon by his predecessor, the stern and traditional Reverend Matthews, who does not agree with Gibbs’ trendy tactics or the new commercialized direction in which the church is headed. Coincidentally, Reverend Gibbs eventually stumbles upon a young lady who sparks his interest but presents a challenge to him. The young, lovely, and witty schoolteacher Divine, initially unbeknownst to Reverend Gibbs, is the daughter of Reverend Matthews and she has lost her faith in God due to losing her mother several years back to cancer. Reverend Gibbs tries to win her over while restoring her faith in God and steering clear of her dry humored and overly protective father in the process. Reverend Matthews’ prospects of returning to the church eventually lessen and Reverend Gibbs moves closer to assuming a permanent role as pastor of the church.
